Hobo & the Penny Lane Days
It all started with my first car being a deseemed mini 1968 with cooper s running gear called 'hobo' alas poor hobo was
written off and it took me a few years to begin looking again but i found my next car in the form of a skyblue mini panel
van with a white roof from SA Australia which i flew down to see and got transported back to sunny Sydney! 2 years after
that day Penny Lane's transformation was near completion with the help of a great friend and mentor who i met on the ausmini
forums Steve (I owe him a world of thank yous).
Enter.. The Love of My Life!
It all started one fateful day at Dee Why beach where some friends of mine had encouraged me to come down and spend the
afternoon. Little did I know they had invited Ciara down with them and me being not so good at meeting new people was quiet,
moody and just plain rude!
The second time I spent serious time with Ciara didn't go well at all! My friends asked Ciara to pick me up to attend a
play with the group and little did I know at the time Ciara is a very punctual person. Me being me decided it would be a
great task to service Penny Lane and do some rewiring in the evening before going to the play and so once Ciara arrived
at my house I was under the car covered in grease and oil and we were already 10 minutes late! (I now know she was madly
unimpressed!)
A few weeks later after spending more time with the boys and Ciara I was offered tickets to the Hillary Duff Fragrance Launch!
(hooray!) and I thought it would be fun if I invited Ciara (I secretly wanted to get to know her more and thought who better
than Hillary Duff to give us talking time!).
Over time, walks, talks I began to know Ciara's beautiful heart.. Suddenly 2 years had gone by and all I could think about
was wanting to spend the rest of my life with her..
Alas poor penny was costing me more than i could afford and I wanted to propose so i sold Penny to buy 1 of 3 diamonds in
my now wife's engagement ring (she's a jewellery designer by trade so jewellery for her is classic cars for me!) so i had
to go all out! I proposed at Clarkes Point after hiring a spot with the council, purchasing a gazebo, hiring a generator,
buying a string of fairy lights, rigging up an ipod, speakers, origami cranes and hiring a private chef for the evening!
I lost my words on the day of the proposal but she said 'yes' and I am a very lucky man.

The ring! Penny became the big diamond! Well worth it!
An Amazing Show Of Generosity
Michael & Jane the owner operators of Capers have been family friends for years..
little did I know Michael had a gorgeous 1934 MG-PA and a 1953 green 4 door Moggie all origianl! after discovering his love
of cars we got talking and I recounted the story of Penny Lane to him..
A day after the wedding we were having breakfast at Capers and Michael said he had an annoucement to make. What followed
was that he revealed he had a 1958 4 door Moggie he'd bought for his daughters to drive and pass down but they had lost
interest and it had been off the road for 2 years. He shared that he would like me to have it and handed me the following
2 scanned photos saying when we got back from our honeymoon to call him.
Being the most amazing show of generosity I have ever seen I burst out crying (manly crying of course) I will pick up the
car this week or next and will keep you posted! I plan on keeping her pink!
talk about the ultimate wedding present from a really genuine and amazing couple!
Thank you Michael & Jane
